There are several options available in pet care and you, as your pet's guardian, will need to choose the one best suited to both your needs.

It is important to remember that cats do not usually travel well. They rarely enjoy it, nor do they adapt quickly to strange places. Many people who try to take kitty along with them on vacation end up spending most of their time searching for their escaped pet!

Having an animal-loving friend or relative take your pet in is often just as unsatisfactory. Again, your pet must adjust to a strange environment and often to other pets in the home. A cat may try to escape from this strange place or hide in fear the whole time. Most "cat guardians" realize it isn't fair to impose this kind of responsibility on friends, nor is it a happy arrangement for their pet.

Hiring a professional petsitter allows your pet to remain in its familiar surroundings, but generally provides for only one or two short visits a day. Some cats do very well in such a situation. Others, however, frustrated by the lack of attention, proceed to relieve their boredom by rearranging the entire house... "missing" the litterbox may be the least of the damage! And no matter how well meaning a friend or relative is, or how well trained a petsitter is, it may be impossible for them to spot the beginnings of a health problem if "Fluffy" spends the entire time under the bed!

Having a professional boarding cattery care for your pet offers a solution to most of these problems. Certainly there is still the adjustment to a new environment, but this is fairly easily accomplished in a cozy enclosure that provides your cat with a sense of security and eliminates the chance of escape. We encourage guests to bring "snugglies" from home to sleep on. Their own bed, or a favorite blanket tucked into one of our roomy baskets, provides a soothing addition to kitty's vacation suite. An experienced staff sees to it that your cat is not only well cared for, but receives plenty of personal attention each day. And a trained eye is there to spot potential problems if they arise and handle anything that might come up in your absence.
